Our ‘Green’ credentials

Any company that is serious about corporate social responsibility will want to address environmental issues head on and be transparent about how their business impacts the surrounding ecosystem. And as part of our business mission at Benham & Reeves, we constantly monitor our activities, systems and interactions to work pro-actively to reduce our carbon footprint, integrating environmentally conscious processes that actively promotes sustainability across the company.

Below we outline just some of the day-to-day processes that our management and staff are involved in, which are helping to boost our green credentials:

  • Our Knightsbridge branch is leading the way on the recycling front, with a three-tier bagging system for all their waste. It may seem like a small gesture, but the move towards sustainability is a cumulative one, comprising of many systematic steps.
  • Across all our branches, invoices and statements are now electronic only, with landlords being able to request digital statements via our own service portal.
  • A change in the way we work is hot-desking, which is actively encouraged and is an area where our Japan Desk and Marketing Department have been pioneers. Being able to reduce the number of screens operating simultaneously in an office space is a significant move in the right direction.
  • We have introduced more video tours for overseas investors and tenants and webinars in order to cut travel. This ethos also extends to the daily commute of staff who are being encouraged to join various car-sharing schemes.
  • No plastic cups at our water stations. Ask us for a glass when you visit!
  • Shredding and paper recycling and providing digital copies of brochures and marketing collateral, reducing branded printed literature by 80%
  • Energy consumption in our London branches and management offices are under constant review and we are moving to low wattage or LED lighting with dimmable technology for out of hours periods.

An increase in business often leads to an adverse impact on the environment, but it doesn’t have to be that way. By carefully auditing our net energy expenditure, we seek to be valuable and responsible members in the local communities where we operate. We do this in close partnership with our staff, clients and contractors, constantly seeking to encourage, collaborate and inspire.

Out corporate social responsibility also extends to philanthropy; encouraging charity and volunteer work, supporting communities or organisations that are close to our heart and match our corporate values. Find out more here.
