Meet our Shoreditch team

Where in London do you live? I live in Richmond.

Tell me something about your career After several years working in recruitment in Tokyo, I moved to the UK in 2001 to study for a Masters degree.  After graduating, I began my career in the property industry, becoming a lettings negotiator for a Japanese-owned agency.  I progressed with the firm, working in central London and eventually managing six branches.

What skills do you bring to your role? I have extensive experience of the corporate lettings market in London, in particular working with Japanese corporate clients.   I am also a member of ARLA Propertymark.  This expertise is invaluable in my role heading up the Japan desk at Benham and Reeves where we have a dedicated corporate services department.

What do you enjoy doing outside work? I love running in Richmond Park and usually try and do a 12k run at the weekend.
Where in London do you live? I’m currently living in the Willesden area.

What skills do you bring to your role? I used to teach English at a school in Japan and Japanese to foreign students, so I gained good customer-facing experience and sharpened my linguistic skills. With communication and negotiating proficiency, my main role is to provide Japanese tenants and our global landlords with the best mutual housing contract that suits both parties. I have developed good working relationships with many companies, mostly curated through my own network. My instincts help me to meet the needs of our Japanese corporate tenants who I enjoy helping. It is most important to me that I give 100 percent to everyone.

What do you like to do outside work? You will find me in a London pub watching the Premier League matches over a glass of beer and I like to play football when I have time. I also enjoy travelling and have visited 20 countries, mainly in Asia and Europe.
Where in London do you live? I live in Wembley.

What skills do you bring to your role? My role involves making a mutually agreeable lettings deal between our landlords and Japanese corporate applicants. I'm a native Japanese speaker and am fluent in English and enjoy liaising with applicants, helping them find the right rental property that meets their needs so they can settle in as seamlessly as possible into UK life.

Tell us about your career, what experience do you have? Most of my career has been spent working as a sales consultant; mainly in Japan, where I learned many transferable skills for my role now. After achieving my Master’s in children’s literature in the UK, I worked at a Japanese school as an administration assistant before starting my career in property.

What do you like to do in your free time to relax? I like music and enjoy playing the bass and tin whistle. I also like travelling and have already explored the UK and visited 35 countries.
What do you like most about working on the Japan Desk? I enjoy the challenges of working in a cross-cultural environment which includes liaison with landlords based in the UK, Japan and various overseas countries.

Tell me about your property career so far and what are your key skills? I previously worked in the sales department of a Japanese advertising company where I learned about building strong customer relations through effective communication skills. I really value the strong team ethic of the Japan Desk and like to maintain the high level of customer service that Japanese corporate tenants routinely expect.

What are your passions outside work and how do you relax? I have the biggest passion for food and travelling whenever I can.
Which part of London do you live in? I am living near Paddington which is very handy for getting in and out of central London.

What do you like most about helping on the Japan Desk and working with properties? I am fluent in English and Japanese so I can communicate with Japanese tenants clearly which our tenants value. The UK way of living is different to living in Japan so I like helping tenants get settled into our rental properties so everything works out well for them and they enjoy their home while they are living here.

What do you like to do in your free time to relax? I enjoy café culture and exploring outside of London too, there is so much culture, beautiful landscapes and history to enjoy.
Which part of London do you live in? I’m enjoying living in North West London.

What do you like most about working on the Japan Desk? I am motivated by being able to help people with such an essential part of their lives. Moving can be stressful, but I believe our Japan Desk makes it easier because of the expert services we provide. We really work hard to make moving and settling in as seamless as possible.

Tell me something about your career, what experience do you have? I graduated from University with a bachelor's degree in Global Japanese Studies and worked as a co-ordinator at a design company in Osaka. I later enjoyed a period of time travelling around Europe including some work experience teaching Japanese (I am fluent in Japanese and English and basic Danish). I later trained and worked as a Japanese language teacher in Tokyo before coming to the UK to work in the services sector.

What do you like to do in your free time to relax? I enjoy walking, watching movies and travelling.
What do you like most about working on the Japan Desk? I really enjoy being able to act as a bridge between Japan and the UK, providing high-quality and reliable customer service to our Japanese clients.

Tell me about your property career so far and what are your key skills? I previously worked as a manager at a talent agency in Japan, where I developed strong communication and liaison abilities. This has given me good transferable skills that help me support our clients most effectively now.

What are your passions outside work and how do you relax? I enjoy musical theatre, especially West End musicals and have already seen many performances. I am always impressed by the high level of quality and professionalism. I also enjoy singing, which is the best way for me to relax.
