Even celebrities have to settle down somewhere and where could be more celebrity-friendly than London? In almost every corner of the Capital, famous film stars, singers, models and those who are just famous for being famous are either looking for a property, moving in to a glorious new pad or selling up for something with more even style and grandeur. In this monthly blog, we’ll keep you abreast of where they’re moving to and from and also tell you how you can bag yourself a property nearby.
Keep it in the family
Rita Ora is a busy lady these days. So busy, it seems, she didn’t even have time to go house hunting. The Kosovan-born singer tasked her parents, Vera and Besnik with finding her the perfect pad. They eventually found her a £1.3 million home in north London that the modest singer then kitted out with items from IKEA. Alas, it seems the songstress isn’t ready to settle down quite yet. Her lifestyle is so jet set that she’s told her parents they can move in while she continues to travel the world. Hopefully her parents will invite their daughter round for a cup of tea or something. If you or your parents are house hunting for a rental property in North London consider this two bedroom cottage in the heart of Hampstead Village – a short walk from the Tube, cafes and Hampstead Heath.
Is there something we should know?
Those of you old enough to remember Duran Duran might be interested to know that Andy Taylor’s former flat in Wandsworth is up for sale. The huge penthouse was big enough for the band mates to play cricket there. The guitarist also installed a hot tub on the terrace for use during wild parties. We also have a flat to rent near Battersea Park with rock star quality. Okay, it may not be big enough for a cricket pitch but it does have designer furniture, comfort cooling and an on-site fitness centre, swimming pool, yoga studio and business centre, along with a 24 hour concierge to keep those groupies at bay.
Finding a rental shouldn’t be Mission: Impossible
Just in case you haven’t looked at the internet, flipped on the television or read a newspaper of late, Tom Cruise has a new film out. The fifth edition of the Mission: Impossible franchise has the impossibly young looking 53 year old performing his own stunts and performing many scenes in a state of undress. Yep, he’s still got it. What he doesn’t have any longer, however, is the flat in Knightsbridge where he previously stayed while filming in the capital. The 10,000 square foot property overlooking Hyde Park features ‘his and hers’ dressing rooms, a bar, cinema, gym and a spa. It’s tough being a celeb. If the £35m price tag is beyond your budget, consider this property in Rutland Gate.
Your palace or mine?
We’ll give you two guesses. Has Princess Madeleine of Sweden looking to buy a new house in a) Sweden or b) London? If you guessed London, you’d be right. The dark-haired beauty is moving to the capital with her London-born husband Chris O’Neill and their daughter Princess Leonore and newborn son Prince Nicholas from – no, not Stockholm but New York. Princess Madeleine’s in-laws are nearby so perhaps they can help out with the babysitting from time to time. No word yet as to where they’ll be moving but we’re willing to bet it’s going to be Kensington & Chelsea. It is the Royal borough, after all. If you’re looking for a palace of your own, look no further than this beauty in Vicarage Gate, only a short walk to Kensington Palace.
A home with the X-factor
The X Factor’s latest judge, Nick Grimshaw, is reputedly looking for a new house in Islington. He currently resides in Primrose Hill but our sources have seen him searching in the N1 area. The Radio 1 Breakfast Show host will undoubtedly be looking for somewhere quiet so he can get his shut eye. He has to be in the Radio 1 studios by 6am to start his show at 6:30. We suspect he’ll be looking for somewhere that’s off the beaten track and with few neighbours. If you’d like to be one of Nick’s new neighbours, check out this 1 bedroom apartment available to rent in Angel.
