Pancake Day in London

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

4536294812_4fe19fbd57_oIt’s that time of year again. No, we’re not talking about confessing your love on Valentines Days, or bringing in the Chinese New Year – we’re talking about Pancake Day (also known as Shrove Tuesday). That’s right, Tuesday 9th February is your excuse to get the maple syrup out and treat yourself to a yummy pancake. And if you don’t know where to go, fear not, as the staff at our nearby branches have selected their top picks on where to enjoy London’s best pancakes.

Chez Lindsey, 11 Hill Rise, Richmond, TW10

@Chez_Lindsay

This Richmond bistro offers an excellent selection of pancakes set to the scenic backdrop of the River Thames, if you’re willing to brave the cold and sit outside, that is. If not, don’t worry as you can relax in their cosy interior while you enjoy buckwheat pancakes with fillings ranging from creamy leeks with scallops to melted cheese and ratatouille.

If, however, you’re thinking about cooking a pancake or two from home, one of the kitchens in the modern apartments at the Kew Bridge West development, located a couple of miles from Richmond, are an ideal setting to flip a few treats.

Breakfast Club, 1 Crossrail Place, Crossrail Station and Retail Mall, Canary Wharf, E14 5AR

The Breakfast Club have several branches around London, including an all-day diner in Canary Wharf.  If you’re heading there on Pancake Day, you’ll be able to choose from a selection of sweet and savoury delights. You can also take part in their charity competition, where you’ll be challenged to eat 12 pancakes in 12 minutes. Succeed and the meal will be on the Breakfast Club; lose and they’ll donate the price of the pancakes to London charities. It’s a win, win.

Once you’ve consumed all the tasty pancakes you can eat, why not check out this two-bedroom apartment at The Landmark in Canary Wharf? As well as modern interiors and a 24-hour concierge, this 37th-floor apartment features impressive views of the London skyline.

La Creperie de Hampstead, 77 Hampstead High St, NW3 1RE

This well-known crepe stall has been in Hampstead for more than three decades and is visited by people from all over London. If you don’t mind the queues (it really is that popular) then you’ll be in for a treat. We recommend the banana and chocolate crepe.

While you enjoy your crepe, take a walk along Hampstead village’s quaint High Street, enjoy the nearby cobbled streets dotted with period properties, and visit Hampstead Heath which has 790-acres of open spaces. If you’re looking for a rental property,  Back Lane with its pretty period properties is a good place to start.
