More than any other purpose-built conurbation, Milton Keynes enjoys the very best of both worlds. Located in the rolling countryside of historic Buckinghamshire, it’s a neat, picturesque town, separate from London’s sprawl, yet still only a 30-minute commute away from Tube Fare Zone 1 (Euston). It’s no wonder its attracting a new raft of homeowners and property investors who are buying property here.

The vision for Milton Keynes was always one of greenery, spaciousness and affordability and it continues to be a popular choice for professional individuals and families seeking more square footage for their money. As prices continue to rise in London and neighbouring towns like St Albans and Luton, property investment in Milton Keynes is also becoming a serious consideration for property investors looking to diversify their property portfolio outside of London. With the new hybrid working model now well supported by many UK companies, renters continue to look for space with a greener outlook and Milton Keynes delivers. Landlords can expect good rental yields here as young, energetic and hard-working tenants take advantage of the area’s good schools and outdoor pursuits.

Living in Wavendon

New property developments are definitely a priority for anyone looking to buy or rent property in Milton Keynes, with Morton Park and Manor View being two of the finest examples of what developers are currently doing in the area. Located in the leafy district of Wavendon, these schemes are typified by superb build quality, beautiful rural views and a distinct family-friendly atmosphere. Both are designed and built by Crest Nicholson, a Tier 1 UK developer and the two, three, four and five bedroom homes to buy here appeal to everyone from first-time buyers, to relocating down-sizers and growing families. Unlike other parts of Milton Keynes, Wavendon is the site of an actual 13th Century village which adds to its desirability and authenticity. It is also something of an educational hotspot, with a cluster of excellent primary schools (Heronshaw, St Mary’s CofE, Brooklands Farm) and great secondary institutions (Oakgrove, Kents Hill, Herongate). The neighbourhood sits in a cosy pocket formed by the River Ouzel and the Grand Union Canal and is nearer to the M1 motorway than the main town. Residents can be heading southbound towards London within minutes of leaving their front door as well as being near to all the great amenities that Milton Keynes offers. Wavendon is home to many top-quality eateries and live music venues. The Wavendon Arms is the social focal point, but the Woburn Golf Club offers secluded dining and The Caldecotte Pub & Grill is located by the side of a beautiful lake of the same name.

The grid-like arrangement of the town layout makes navigating public transport quick and easy, while an extensive cycle path network provides alternatives that are cost-effective, child-friendly and ecologically sound. The main retail focus in Milton Keynes centres around the twin venues of The Centre:mk and Midsummer Place which house major high street brands and a selection of good restaurants. Of course, the wide-open spaces in and around Milton Keynes mean that it remains the perfect location for lovers of the great outdoors. Available activities range from extreme biking at BMX Pump, to indoor skydiving at iFLY and rowing on the many natural and man-made waterways.

Convenient transport connections

Not only does the M1 offer a quick route into London, but it also provides fast access to Luton Airport and a regular coach service is a handy way to get there.  The M1 motorway also provides easy access to good universities with Northampton, Birmingham, Warwick and Cambridge, reached in less than two hours. Fast trains from Milton Keynes Central take just 33 minutes to reach London Euston station.

This isn’t to say that Milton Keynes is set to be a satellite town of London, or Birmingham for that matter. It has its own uniquely youthful character which is drawing increasing interest, energy and investment.
