FireworksOn the fifth of November, Bonfire Night, also known as Guy Fawkes or Fireworks Night, will light up the city and warm the skies with a range of firework displays. This tradition dates back to 1605 when Guy Fawkes was arrested for unsuccessfully trying to blow up the Houses of Parliament.  We’ve been marking the occasion ever since, so join us to discover the best places to see London’s most colourful displays, while finding out what appealing rental properties are nearby.

Battersea Park Fireworks

Bonfire Night falls on a Thursday this year, so most displays will take place over the weekend, the 7th and 8th. Battersea Park will host a fireworks show choreographed to a musical soundtrack. Gates open at 6pm, with the firework display starting  at 8pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Ealing Cricket Club has decided on a ‘Fantasy’ theme this year, meaning spectators can expect to see a fireworks display that’s both fitting for a sci-fi adventure and a  Neverland far, far away. There will also be mulled wine, a barbeque and a candy-floss stall so nobody goes hungry while watching the show.

Blackheath Common

Thousands will be in attendance for London’s biggest free firework display at Blackheath Common. The main display starts at 8pm, but there will be other attractions which include a funfair, bar and food stalls from 5pm.

Lord Mayor’s Show and Fireworks

Ok, so this isn’t directly linked to Bonfire Night but, if like us, you can’t get enough of the marvellous displays that light up the skies, head down to the Lord Mayor’s Show, which celebrates its 800th anniversary on Saturday 14 November. You’ll get to enjoy more than 7,000 performers from around the world taking to the streets with dance, acrobatics and much more. The fireworks will bring the event to a thrilling finale at 5.15pm.

The display takes place at Westminster Bridge, one of London’s most historical areas. This two-bedroom apartment on Gatliff Road in Pimlico offers lots of charm and character, and is only a short journey to the attractions of Westminster.
