New-build developments in London

New homes
You cannot get more culturally connected than having a globally famous museum as your next-door neighbour, which is what the residents at some shiny and gleaming residential buildings include One Blackfriars and Neo Bankside – both hugely popular with homeowners and rental investors alike. Futuristically shaped and full of top-notch facilities, these developments combine commanding views of all the riverside landmarks with superb transport links and close proximity to restaurants and shops. The streets that fan out southwards from the River contain many new developments and imaginative conversions as Southbank’s commercial and media heritage provide plenty of space and inspiration.

From the Shell Building to Waterloo Station and the streets around the old City Hall, buildings are being repurposed and reimagined at a tremendous rate. Galleries, microbreweries and music venues are all within a short walk from each other and the main residential areas. Aside from the usual media executives and arts administrators, Southbank is popular with elite civil servants (Westminster is just across the river), international students and corporate professionals.

To find out what makes Southbank such a great place to live and work, get in touch with our City branch who will guide you through the many exciting property options that are on offer to buy or rent. We also sell properties in Southbank and offer a full lettings and property management service to landlords and tenants who love this central location.

Mark Wellington, City Area Manager, Benham & Reeves Lettings

Where do you live? I live in Kennington.

Tell us something about your career? I have worked in the lettings business for 15 years. Previously with a corporate serviced apartment provider and then joined Benham & Reeves in 2003 as Manager of City office and then now also manage Canary Wharf office after we opened it in 2009. I am ARLA Propertymark qualified with the NAEA (NFOPP) qualification.

And an interesting fact about yourself? I found flats for Gwyneth Paltrow and Ashley Judd when they were in London filming - that was a pleasure!

Amy Gray, City Lettings Negotiator, Benham & Reeves Lettings

Where do you currently live? I commute into the City as the transport connections are reliable and fast.

What do you like most about the City area? I enjoy the energy and character of working in London’s City district. It has a wonderful blend of historic landmarks and modern buildings including the Square Mile which give it a truly unique character.

Tell me a little about your property career & experience? I am relatively new to the property industry but have quickly developed a strong interest in it. I enjoy the variety the role offers as no two days are the same. The industry is very people-focused so building relationships with landlords and tenants as well as liaising with developers and our property managers is very rewarding for me.

What are your passions outside work and how do you relax? Outside of work, I enjoy learning new languages and continuing to develop my bilingual skills. I like to spend time reading to broaden my knowledge, staying active at the gym and cooking healthy meals, which I find particularly relaxing. Travelling is another passion of mine, as exploring new cultures and experiencing different ways of life is something I find both inspiring.

Rosie Dimitrova, City Lettings Administration Manager, Benham & Reeves Lettings

Where do you live? I've lived in Essex for 12 years.

How long have you worked for Benham and Reeves? I joined the company in 2005 and I enjoy my work as Administrator. I am a member of ARLA Propertymark with the NAEA (NFOPP) qualification. It's crazy busy here but I do love it!

And an interesting fact about yourself? I love travelling and am fluent in three languages which comes in very handy with international landlords and tenants.

Philip Lingard, City London Sales Manager, Benham & Reeves Lettings

Where is your favourite part of London? I was brought up in Islington so would have to choose Angel and surrounding areas such as the City and Shoreditch.

Tell us a little about your career I have been working within the property industry for 15 plus years, covering several sales sectors with specialism in new build sales. Since joining Benham and Reeves as an  investment consultant, I have progressed to sales manager of new homes and resale properties in residential developments, working closely with our international offices and a growing roll of domestic and international investor clients.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself I love to run and have run half marathons and marathons in the past.

Maciej Skalski, City Assistant Sales Manager, Benham & Reeves Lettings

Where do you live? I currently live in Essex but have spent my entire life in East London.

What do you like most about the properties on the East side of the City? I really appreciate the architecture in Canary Wharf which is unique, especially the newly developed Wood Wharf which has been superbly integrated into the surroundings, enhancing the aesthetics of the area.

Tell me a little about your property career so far and your best skills? I’ve worked in the property industry over several years, mainly working sales, in and around the City and East London. I’ve also worked in the luxury lifestyle sector including a stint at Harrods Knightsbridge which has helped shape my inter-personal skills and ability to negotiate. I’ve had the pleasure of working with people from all walks of life and consider myself to be perceptive, which is an asset in my role now.

What are your passions outside work and how do you relax? I’m passionate about football, though I no longer play 11-a-side, I stay active with Power League. As a pet owner, I also love exploring different parks and walks with my French Bulldog.

Desiree Leith, City Sales Administrator, Benham & Reeves Lettings

What is your favourite part of London? Covent Garden for its buzz, the market and stunning architecture, it’s such a hidden gem.

What key skills do you bring to your role at B&R? I have worked in the property industry for seven years, first as a reservations manager for serviced apartments and then with Benham and Reeves as a lettings administrator which has helped form the ground work for my current role assisting the salesforce. Efficiency is my watch-word and I like to reflect this in all my tasks. I have a keen eye for detail and also enjoy taking on new challenges.

What are your passions outside work for relaxation? I love catching up with family and friends and my other passions are dance and singing in a London choir.
